Ayla & Pandora

Ayla and Pandora are golden retrievers. Ayla is 14 and Pandora is 3.

The picture above was taken while Pandora was still a puppy. Both girls love to take walks in the forest preserves or play ball, especially in the snow. In September, Pandora and I completed a 4-mile walkathon to benefit Canine Companions for Independence (CCI) and together, we raised and donated $275. Ayla is a "people person" and feels that it is her duty to greet everyone we meet. If we go to the dog park, she walks up to people and waits (not so patiently!) for them to pet her. She also "talks" when she wants something or is enjoying being petted - it sounds a bit like a cat purring, only she's using her voice!

Pandora, on the other hand, likes to sing (howl) whenever she hears the opening of Mahler's Fifth Symphony. Ayla has cancer at this time, but she has many friends and loved ones sending prayers and loving thoughts her way.

Ayla and Pandora live with their companion, Mary Lynne, in Illinois.
